Joyce Hanna-Condry - Joyce began her formal training during her college years where she focused on oil painting, followed by architectural drawing as part of her major academic discipline. She also attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and, since moving to Rehoboth has studied with several internationally-known artists, as well as, many talented local artists. It’s not surprising that buildings and cityscapes are often subjects she chooses for her paintings. However, she prefers the freer style she achieves when painting flowers and landscapes. In addition to Gallery One, Joyce exhibits and has received recognition in the member shows of the Rehoboth Art League, Delaware Watercolor Society and Bethany Beach Watercolor Society.
Anne Hanna - Anne is a Sussex County Artist who has had several one-person shows over the last several years. Her formal training was at the London Central School of Art and Indiana University, where she received an AB in fine arts. Anne serves on the docent board of the Rehoboth Art League, is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Potomac Valley Watercolorists, National League of American Pen Women, National Portrait Society and a Life member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. In 2006, Anne was elected to “Who’s Who in American Women” and appears in its latest edition.
Tinsel Hughes - After twenty years as a general dentist, Tinsel (as she is known to her family) moved with her husband to Bishopville, MD where she took up art as her new full time occupation. She is a member of the Rehoboth Art League, Art League of Ocean City, Delaware Watercolor Society, Strathmore Hall Arts Center, and Bethany Beach Watercolor Society where she serves as president. In 2004, Tinsel was juried into the Baltimore Watercolor Society as a Signature member.
Sonia Hunt - Originally from England, Sonia now resides Lewes. She loves to travel and has captured many of the places she has visited in her paintings. Sonia has received various awards for her watercolors, which are exhibited throughout Sussex County. Sonia also enjoys teaching and presently gives a course in watercolor techniques for the Southern Delaware Academy of Lifetime Learning. She is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League and the Cape Artists.
Fay Kempton - Fay earned a BA in Fine Arts from Temple University. For thirty years, painting took a backseat to raising a family and a career in commercial interior and stained glass design, with time set aside for pounding rocks into sculptures, exploring ceramic clay handbuilding and wheel throwing, and creating dichroic glass jewelry. Fay does not watch life go by. She loves experiencing art in every facet and began painting again following a workshop at the Rehoboth Art League. Her watercolors communicate her love of color and life.
Joan Kesler - Joan has lived in the Bethany Beach area since 1990. This was also when she changed her painting medium from oils to watercolors. Joan says the local scenery lured her into the great outdoors to paint in plein air. She had intended to use watercolors on location then produce a final oil painting in her studio. Instead, she found watercolors so challenging that she has never returned to oils. Joan is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society and the Art League of Ocean City.
Richard Mathews - Born “some years ago,” Richard studied art at Catholic University and George Washington University (with studio classes at the Corcoran Gallery of Art). After working as a production artist for the Washington Post and an illustrator and graphic designer for the U.S. Department of Labor, Richard retired to the Bethany Beach area. He currently works in pastels and watercolors. Richard is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Art League of Ocean City and is active in the Rehoboth Art League sketch group.
Lesley McCaskill - Lesley is a professional artist whose love of the outdoors often takes her on location to paint. This year she won Best in Show Local Color, Easton, Md. Other awards include the Shinnerer Grant to paint and study in Italy, the Centennial Educator Award from Philadelphia University, and awards in member shows of the Delaware Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League, and the Art League of Alexandria, Va. Her work can be found in the collections of Grand Cucomella, Sorrento, Italy; Georgetown University; Montgomery County Government, Landon School: as well as in many private collections.
Lorraine Meehan - Lorraine received a fine arts degree from Bucks County Community College and has furthered her studies under noted Arizona artist, Bev Van Berkom, as well as many local, regional and international artists. She likes to experiment with different painting techniques and works in oils, acrylics and watercolors. Her paintings can be found in several private collections and local exhibitions. Lorraine currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society and is a member of the Rehoboth Art League.
Jeanne Mueller - Art has always been in Jeanne’s life…..at age 4 she painted her mother’s sofa. It met with no rewards. After many years of study with well-known artists, her style is evolving; however, she always comes back to her love of color and her philosophy that art should represent an emotional feeling. Jeanne’s work has been displayed locally at art leagues and festivals. In addition to the local art leagues and watercolor societies, Jeanne is a member of the American Watercolor Society and is the Delaware representative for the Southern Watercolor Society.
Pat Riordan - Pat is originally from New England and now and then you can detect a trace of a Boston accent. Her primary medium is watercolor and she favors landscape painting. Many galleries on the East coast have shown her work. Pat is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League, Cape Artists, and Delaware Watercolor Society.
Dianne Shearon - Dianne began her journey to become an artist when she opened a needlework and custom framing business in Hockessin. In 1994 she moved to Rehoboth and, after years of framing so many beautiful works of art, she decided to try her hand at painting. She chose watercolors as her medium and specializes in painting flowers, landscapes and water scenes. Dianne is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League and Delaware Watercolor Society.
Dale Sheldon - Dale studied at Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and graduated from the University of Maryland. She is a studio painter, collecting images and impressions from around the world. Exploring light, atmosphere and color relationships, Dale’s paintings interpret and express moods, memories or impressions. Her style of painting reflects both wet-on-wet and layering techniques with rich color washes. Dale is a member of Potomac Valley Watercolorists, a founding member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, and a Signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
Sue Spencer - A transplant from Pennsylvania, Sue has been a full-time resident of the Bethany area since 1992. She has always been a “student of art,” although her formal education (AB from Cornell and MSS from the Bryn Mawr School of Social Work) reflects her other interests and occupations. Sue has studied painting techniques with many outstanding artists and enjoys depicting local surroundings of rural Sussex County. She is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League, Delaware Watercolor Society and Hawaii Watercolor Society.
Rina Thaler - A longtime Ocean City resident and watercolor artist, Rina primarily paints landscapes and florals in vibrant and expressive transparent watercolors. Although she has studied with both national and regional artists, Rina considers herself to be self-taught. She feels that the expression of art is a very personal process that must come from within. Rina is a member of the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Worcester County Arts Council, Rehoboth Art League, and currently serves as president of the Art League of Ocean City.
Cheryl Wisbrock - Cheryl relocated to Bethany Beach from the Washington, D.C. area in the 1990's. Since then she has made time to pursue a lifetime love of art. She particularly likes the process of painting, and enjoys depicting whatever strikes her fancy, from land- and seascapes to local scenes or daily life. Although Cheryl works in other materials, her current favorite is watercolor. In addition to college art classes, Cheryl has studied with many regional and national artists. Her work can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States. She is a member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League and Art League of Ocean City (Maryland).
